چکیده
Researchers in production and operations management have studied the effect of worker learning forgetting on system performance for decades. It remains an active research topic. Those studies assumed that interruptions (or breaks) cause forgetting, which deteriorates performance. Research human working memory provides enough evidence continuous precisely cognitive interference, results from overloading with information. Despite evidence, few incorporated it into curve models. This paper presents enhanced version power accounts a variable degree interference when moving cycle to next. adopts concept trace decay measure residual (interference-adjusted), not nominal (maximum) cumulative experience. We test developed model against data manual assembly inspection tasks, varying numbers repetitions breaks. also three alternative power-form models literature. The show interference-adjusted fits very well. proposed its individualized metrics can help identify struggling workers early release precocious learners earlier than expected. As such, gives insights managers occurrence enable individual support.

Short-term forgetting without interference.
In the 1st reported experiment, we demonstrate that auditory memory is robust over extended retention intervals (RIs) when listeners compare the timbre of complex tones, even when active or verbal rehearsal is difficult or impossible. Thus, our tones have an abstract timbre that resists verbal labeling, they differ across trials so that no "standard" comparison stimulus is built up, and the spe...
متن کاملA Forgetting Model for Paired-Associate Learning
This paper presents a Markov model for paired-associate learning which is based on conclusion drawn from experimental studies of short-term memory. Learning of paired-associates is considered as a decrease in the probability of forgetting an association between trials. The ability of the model to account for experimental results is demonstrated by considering data from two experiments involving...
متن کاملInterference-Based Forgetting 1 Interference-Based Forgetting in Verbal Short-Term Memory
This article presents four experiments that tested predictions of SOB (Serial Order in a Box), an interference-based theory of short-term memory. Central to SOB is the concept of noveltysensitive encoding, which holds that items are encoded to the extent that they differ from alreadyencoded information. On the additional assumption that distractors are encoded into memory in the same manner as ...
متن کاملPower-law forgetting in synapses with metaplasticity
The idea of using metaplastic synapses to incorporate the separate storage of longand short-term memories via an array of hidden states was put forward in the cascade model of Fusi et al. In this paper, we devise and investigate two models of a metaplastic synapse based on these general principles. The main difference between the two models lies in their available mechanisms of decay, when a co...
